Freeze Down

This piece is a “musique concrète” experiment, derived from the transformation of a few seconds of a concrete sound recorded at home, manipulated through freezing, scanning and pitching, plus additional effects.
It was aimed at getting an harmonious, low tempo piece from a fast original sound, thus creating, by device only and without notes, a meditative, contemplative ambient soundscape.

I chose it among recent works for the “En chair et en son” festival, as it seemed appropriate for letting butoh dancers slowly but freely evolve onto its textures and oriental/flute-like melodies.
